Port Vila City Council of Women (PVCCW) is a community based organisation structured under the umbrella body of the Vanuatu National Council of Women. PVCCW has five presidents in the five ward councils of Port Vila, and works to help unite women in Port Vila City. PVCCW has worked in partnership with the Department of Industries, as well as the NGO Further Arts to make awareness on the Efficient Energy Store. PVCCW has also worked with the Department of Environment through Vanuatu National Council of Women in a massive clean up campaign. PVCCW works with its affiliated associations and the women, girls, widows, mother and girls and men who are members of the organisation.
Whilst PVCCW does not explicitly contribute to the strategic areas under the National Gender Equality Policy, their efforts to unite women and work on community initiatives may implicitly contribute to reducing discrimination and violence by promoting gender equality and supporting women in various aspects of their lives, as well as contribute to economic empowerment and skills development and women’s leadership by providing a platform to lead and influence community affairs, and create initiatives supported by their partner organisations.

PVCCW partner organisations include the Department of Industries and the NGO Further Arts, which PVCCW worked with to promote the Efficient Energy Store, aiming to increase awareness and adoption of energy-efficient practices. Additionally, PVCCW has collaborated with the Department of Environment and Vanuatu National Council of Women on a significant clean-up campaign, highlighting its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The council actively involves a diverse group of members, including women, girls, widows, and men, through its affiliated associations and membership. These efforts reflect PVCCW’s dedication to fostering community engagement and unification of women in Port Vila City.
