The Vanuatu Widows Association (VWA) was established to address the unique needs of widows in Vanuatu, focusing on ensuring their social welfare and supporting them in sustaining their livelihoods. As a growing organization, VWA is actively seeking projects and initiatives to provide long-term support to its members. In addition to its welfare efforts, the association advocates for the proper care and respectful treatment of widows within society. The VWA’s mission aligns with three key strategic areas of the National Gender Equality Policy: eliminating discrimination and violence against women and girls, enhancing women’s economic empowerment and skills development, and advancing women’s leadership and political participation. To achieve its goals, the association partners with organizations which are instrumental in running activities and programs that benefit widows across the country, ensuring they receive the support they need to thrive.
